Obituary of James "Jim" C. Carriero
Please share a memory of James "Jim" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of James (Jim) Carriero, is deeply saddened to announce his unexpected passing on Sunday, February 23, 2025. He was 58 years old, born in Buffalo, NY on August 21, 1966.
Jim grew up in the Buffalo area, graduated from St. Francis High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Military Science from Canisius University. He was in ROTC and served in the Army while attending college. He was proud to serve in the
82nd Airborne, as a Ranger and as a member of Delta Force.
Among many missions, he served in Operation Desert Shield followed by Operation Desert Storm. Like many Buffalo Bills fans, Jim found joy and heartache in following his team. He was a season ticket holder for many years and was extremely disappointed just a few weeks ago when once again, the Bills did not make it to the Super Bowl.
Jim enjoyed home improvement projects and had almost every tool known to man; his garage proved it. He was a self-proclaimed “rough carpenter” and there were very few projects he couldn’t complete.
He was well traveled, having visited over 100 Countries. Most were during his time in the Military, but he also had the opportunity to travel with work and his family. While his travels took him to many places abroad, his favorite place was at home and with his family. Some of Jim’s favorite trips included Las Vegas and Arizona as he took up hiking in his later years.
Jim is survived by his wife Christy, sons James and Ned, daughter Addison and son-in-law Josh. His parents James and Kathleen, brother John, sister-in-law Karen, sister Cindy and brother-in-law Nik. He was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
As a husband and father, Jim was devoted, kind, understanding and fun. He enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of the world with his children to always make sure they were prepared for anything.
He was the rock of the entire family, providing guidance and assurance always with a positive attitude. His strength and love will be remembered and carried on in the family forever.
While Jim was passionate about his family, his dogs also had a special place in his heart.
Throughout all the chapters of Jims life, he made genuine friendships. He had a unique ability to create valuable long-lasting relationships with people from many walks of life. One of the highlights for him was the annual golf outing in Edinboro, PA where many good laughs, stories and memories were made, but rarely good golfing.
He had a strong work ethic but even more than that, he genuinely cared about the people he worked with and prescribed to servant leadership philosophy.
Celebration of life will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at James W. Cannan Funeral Home, 3155 Orchard Park Road, Orchard Park, NY. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and service will begin at 12:00pm. In honor of Jim’s fandom, Buffalo Bills attire, (or colors), is highly encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to a Veterans or an animal charity in Jim’s honor, is appreciated.
Many happy times and memories will forever be in our hearts.
