Timothy Joseph Cummings Jr. January 14, 1942 - February 27, 2025 Timothy Joseph Cummings Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, and went home to Jesus on February 27, 2025. Born in South Buffalo to Timothy and Agnes (Ryan) Cummings, Tim was the oldest of five siblings, Kevin, Lawrence, Margaret, and James, all of whom predeceased him. Tim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather ("Papa & "Pop Pop"), uncle, and friend to many. He married his beloved wife, Mary Jane Cummings, in 1965, and together they built a beautiful life and marriage spanning 59 years. A devoted family man, Tim’s love for his family was unwavering. He found his greatest happiness in their presence, always putting them first and ensuring they were cared for. His family was his life’s greatest achievement, and he took immense pride in being a source of strength, love, and guidance for them. Whether offering words of wisdom, sharing a warm embrace, or simply being there, Tim’s presence was a constant source of comfort and security. He had an incredible gift for making connections, knowing someone everywhere he went in South Buffalo. Tim had a remarkable ability to leave a lasting impression on everyone he met. His genuine nature, quick wit, and generous spirit made him unforgettable, whether he shared a brief encounter or a lifelong friendship. His kindness and humility touched countless lives, creating cherished memories for all who knew him. Tim was a loving father to five children: Patrick, Timothy III, Michael (Mary), Karin (Dale) Wilcox, and Kathleen (Charisma) Bogue; a proud uncle to James (Terri), Andrea (Tyler) Duvall, great uncle to Olivia and Julia Duvall. He was an adored grandfather to six grandchildren: Jessica (Wilcox) Badgley, Amanda Wilcox, Brandie Cummings, the late Murphy Ryan, Kaileen Ryan, and Connor Bogue. In the last five years, he became a great-grandfather to Noah Cummings, who was a light in Timothy’s life. Timothy was more than a grandfather. He was a role model, protector, and hero. His grandson Murphy looked up to him with deep admiration, cherishing the lessons he passed down. Now, in heaven, Murphy welcomes his beloved Papa with open arms, reuniting in love and laughter once more. Tim grew up in South Buffalo, where he attended Bishop Timon High School, excelling as an athlete. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He also shared a strong bond with his many close cousins, reminiscing often about their time growing up together and the memories they created. A dedicated and hardworking member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local No. 4 union, Tim began his career at age 17 and worked for 50 years. He played a significant role in the union, working not only in the field but also later in the office of the pension and welfare plan. His leadership and commitment helped shape the pension program, ensuring that many members received larger benefits upon retirement. His efforts continue to provide security and stability for countless families to this day. Tim built not only a beautiful family but took great pride in working on his home. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of the city, and the love he poured into his family, his home, and his community continues to shine through. He was instrumental in starting the first youth football league in South Buffalo, giving many young athletes the opportunity to learn and grow through sports. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he loved baseball and continued his passion by umpiring after his playing days were over. His presence on the field and in the community was immeasurable. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where his faith remained a cornerstone of his life. Timothy’s legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. His memory will be cherished forever by those who loved him. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday March 5 th from 3-7pm at JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road, Orchard Park, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday March 6th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 115 O’Connell Street, Buffalo, NY, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following. For those who would like to gather afterwards, there will be a luncheon at Tewksbury Lodge, 249 Ohio Street, Buffalo, NY.
