Meg just read of your brother's passing. I'm so sorry for your loss, and please tell your family also. These years are getting tougher as we get older and we are losing our family and friends faster. We'll keep him in our prayers. Take care and hope all are doing well.

Patrick was a wonderful man who always greeted you with a huge smile and happy warm embrace. Being from Buffalo and living in NYC for over 30+ years Patrick always provided that sense of comfort, laughter, and kindness at the Grill and beyond in NYC for all those years. We listened, laughed, and cried together with Patrick always making the day a better one. You will be greatly missed always but never forgotten.

The stories are as endless as the amount of lives touched by Patrick Ford. One story: when Mike Bloomberg ran for mayor of NYC, he came to the Grill for dinner (he knew where he had to rub elbows). Packed house. I politely told him we needed a few minutes before he sat & sent him to the bar to get a drink. Pat saw him approach, picked up his red phone & hollered, “hello Mayor’s office!” Everyone laughed heartily & Pat welcomed Bloomberg into his circle. Mayor Mike stopped in often to see Pat after that. Boundless love to the Ford family.

Great photo of a spry Pat. He never lost that sly smile or his mischievous energy. From Buffalo to NYC he was always good for a drink or a joke (sometimes at your expense). Rest easy Pat...and have a cold one with NARF.

Patty went to Canisius HS and I went to OP. We met after school one day at JB's Pendulum on
S. Buffalo St. in Orchard Park probably 1967 or '68. He offered to walk me home. It became a habit. I remember when he got his first car he was so excited. It was dark midnight blue, big as a boat with a great radio. We'd drive all over the place listening to music like Motown or the Doors. When he started working at Mulligans I would drive down to see him. He'd put on quite a show behind that bar. At one point he hitch hiked all the way to Scituate Harbor, MA to see me. We had some serious fun. When he was ready to leave he had me take him to the Boston Library so he could study the train maps. Then asked me drop him off at a train yard. He gave me a kiss then simply hopped a train to New Orleans and eventually California. He stayed in touch off and on for years. He was an extraordinary firecracker of a guy. I am certain his personality captured the hearts of many.
Rest gently in Peace Patty. I am truly sad to hear he's gone.
