Obituary of James M. Grochala

James M. Grochala passed away on July 5, 2025, after a short battle with cancer at the
age of 62. He was the devoted husband to his wife Karen Chambers, loving father of
Megan (Nate) Becker and step-father of Ellie (Anthony) Lee, and Will (Stephanie
Masood) Chambers, cherished grandfather to Nolan, Kalen and Sam, dear son of
Carolyn and Richard, brother of Rick (Joanne), Dan (late Colleen), and Lynn (Ramsey
MacDonald). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, a large extended family and his
sweet dog Rayne. Jim could almost always be found surrounded by his enormous
circle of friends. Jim recently retired from the Erie County Sheriff’s Department. Per
Jim’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held with friends and family following a small
private service.
