Purcell, Sarah P., born at home in Buffalo on Nov. 4, 1937 passed away at the age of 87 on July 31, 2025, beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah (Merrick) Purcell, loving sister of David (Grace) Purcell and late Mary (late Raymond) Deibel, late Helen Purcell, late Patrick (late Doris)Purcell, late Theresa (late Leon) Long, late Virginia (late Charles)Barrett, late Eugene Purcell, late Joseph Purcell, late Charles Purcell, late Agnes (late William) Tudor, late Robert Purcell, late Elizabeth Lenahan, late Regina (late Donald) Roberts and the late Michael Purcell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends may call Friday August 8th from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 pm at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC. 3155 Orchard Park Rd. (716) 675 - 9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Basilica National Shrine (please assemble at church). Sarah was a proud Buffalo Bills fan with a deep love of her Celtic heritage and loved to Irish Dance. A true fashionista, she had a flair for style, a passion for jewelry, and a cherished collection of music CDs that reflected her vibrant spirit. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, reading and looked forward to her family picnic each and every year. She inspired many of her friends and family to travel becasue of her love to travel and vacation. She was a devoted and energetic woman who found great joy in babysitting her nieces, nephews, and the children of her friends, often whisking them off on a NFT bus to hockey, baseball and football games, and fun outings to the movies. A firm believer in civic duty, she never missed the chance to vote in every election. She dedicated over 47 years of loyal service to Marine Midland Bank, where her work ethic and commitment were unmatched. In her free time, she was an avid fan of horse racing—never missing the excitement of the Kentucky Derby—and watched every Winter and Summer Olympics with enthusiasm and pride. The burial will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.
