CUMMINGS, Mary Jane (Guffner)
May 8, 1944 – Aug. 7, 2025
Age 81, passed away peacefully. Daughter of the late Albert Francis Guffner and Mae (Hollingsead) Guffner; sister of the late Bernard Eugene Guffner. Mary Jane was a graduate of Baker Victory High School and attended college before marrying Timothy J. Cummings, Jr. on August 14, 1965. Together, they shared 59 beautiful years of marriage, raising a family that became her greatest joy and proudest achievement. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her constant support and love of storytelling—always engaged and ready to share a laugh or a memory. Mary Jane worked for the Diocese of Buffalo at St. Stephen’s Church on Grand Island, leading the Sunday School program. Beloved mother to Patrick, Timothy III, Michael (Mary), Karin (Dale) Wilcox, and Kathleen (Charisma) Bogue; loving grandmother to Jessica (Zachary) Badgley, Amanda Wilcox, Brandie Cummings, the late Murphy Ryan, Kaileen Ryan, and Connor Bogue; great-grandmother to Noah Cummings; proud aunt to James (Terri) and Andrea (Tyler) Duvall, and great-aunt to Olivia and Julia Duvall.
Family and friends may visit the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road, (716) 675-9027, Wednesday, August 13, from 3–7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 115 O’Connell Avenue, Buffalo. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at Blackthorn Restaurant & Pub, 2134 Seneca Street, Buffalo. Mary Jane’s love for family, faith, and connection with others will be remembered always.
