Bobby and I were best friends when we were kids. Life was good and we had great friends, many of whom are now gone. We are at that time in life where anything can happen, we hope it never will but its the way life works. Memories are now all we have but they can help us cope and bring smiles to our faces. Rest in Peace my good friend.

I have so many memories of times years ago when the Bugmans and Truscotts were part of our lives. School years, paper routes, and sports were our lives. Bobby was one the nicest guys in life. An amazingly fast runner, he could catch anything that was hit to him in baseball. We played for St. John’s, pal teams and local “choose ups.” I was always amazed at his prowess.
Mostly I recall how he was so nice to all. Always ready with a laugh and kind words. We would gather on Mt Vernon street and play sports, chase and hide and seek. We played behind his house in the then vacant lot after they moved houses and built the old Twin Fair.
I remember 3 hills piled up there which were great for sledding in the winter.
The last time I saw Bob was at my Mother’s wake at Cannan’s.(2001)I think he had just retired and was enjoying family time. He spoke proudly and happily about his family. I will always remember how much his family made growing up at Seneca and Caz a most wonderous time of life. Bobby was always one of the good guys. Rest is peace Bobby.

I went to St. John’s for all eight years and he was always paired with him as altar severs ( it was based on height )
Then hung around with him at Joe’s delicatessen, Parkside Lounge and Hamburg golf course and snack bar for the last 60 years he was indeed a great athlete ,with a great sense of humor . Indeed he was an all around great person . So glad to have known him and call him a friend - rest in peace Bugs.

I remember in the early 60s sitting in the cafeteria at South Park HS with Bobbie asking him if he had an extra 3 cents so we could split an extra milk or on a big day we would get a chocolate milk.
Remembering talking in 62 about that new music group from England (The Beatles). We couldn’t wait to see them on The Ed Sullivan Show. Just about the same time discussing that young boxer from Louisville Kentucky (Cassius Clay) not being afraid of Sonny Listen.
No matter what we started with the conversation always came back to baseball.
At that age it was our real first love in those days.
Bugs would know everybody's statistics .
Later in life when we would meet him as he worked at the Boston hotel he still would remember not only the pro stats but games we played as Ramblers. Only Steve Nelson and Pete Herrmann could do that. I remember well his beautiful wife Carol what a beautiful person.
Bob was such a great family guy and a special friend. I am proud to be able to say you were my friend. I will miss you and think of you often.
