I worked with Brian at Integer and learned real quick that Brian was a jokester. He was an amazing man and would always find away to put a smile on my face. I am so sorry for the families loss.. I know he loved his wife with his whole being. May you rest in eternal peace and be pain free..

The Penny kids grew up in a small house with a lot of kids in it. We moved in the family house when I was only 2. The house had two bedrooms, one bathroom with mom and dad plus 6 kids! Life was so simple then. We played outside for hours, ate dinner together, went on picnics, we had many Sunday gatherings at our aunts farm and even travelled by car together (because dad refused to fly). We had a close family.
Brian was the third child. He loved life, baseball, hanging with his many friends, and cars. When we were growing up, I remember him building model cars all the time. When he got older, Brian still loved cars and always had the coolest cars. Those were very important to him. I feel like once a month we’d come out to a new car in the driveway. I’ll never forget on Easter when his favorite one get smashed. I thought his world had ended. Throughout his years, he had a big old truck that we used to drive to and through a place that had fields, mud hills and water. It got stuck in the mud many times but he kept going back. He was like the snowplow with that truck in the winter making sure I got to work at the nursing home. Brian once took an automatic car and turned it into a standard. He even went as far as to cut the roof off of a car because he wanted a convertible. I’m not sure how far he thought that through because when he brought it home with no roof and we had no garage, the question was what happens when it rains? He either had a plan or thought of one quick. He found another car just like his and the owner allowed him to create a fiberglass mold of the roof, which he then attached to his. It wouldn’t open and close when you were driving down the road but it was still a fun convertible. Oh the adventures! He kept mom and dad on their toes (or gave them more grey hair) with his many daring adventures. Kim knew him through all of this and was brave enough to stay with him!
Brian, and Kim have been together for a very long time. Kim was 14 and Brian 19. My daughter and I were talking about it the other day and she said mom if I brought home a 19 year-old when I was 14, would that have been OK? And I said hell no! But times were very different than and Brian was a good guy. Kim and I graduated together so I’ve known her forever, she is one of my sisters. Brian (or Dude as we called each other) and I were so very close. When he went away on an adventure to Louisiana, I was heartbroken but he came back and things went back to normal for a while. Then he and Kim were married. When he did, I was selfishly so upset and jealous that Kim took him away (all the way to their first apartment 4 houses away). Kim is such a wonderful person. He couldn’t have had a better person take him away. She is such a big heart, so loving and even with that, a little tough, always keeping him in check. As life moved on we started hanging together again. Then came the children. Our first two were only a year apart and then our next two the same. We did everything together. We had so much fun and made so many memories. Our kids grew up together and still do things together sometimes. All I can say is enjoy life and hold onto those memories because that is what will get us through the hardest of times. I will miss you Dude!

I want to express my sincere condolences to entire Penny and Burroughs family. I have nothing but fond memories of my time knowing Brian. We worked together at Budget for several years and became friends there. We then played softball, hunted, fished, rode motorcycles and attended cup races. We did our best to stay in touch in the years after our paths changed. You were an awesome guy Brian and I’ll never forget all the good times. You are part of a story Ive told 100 times about catching a Muskie while we were walleye fishing lol.
You will be missed. Godspeed my friend.

Brian always came over to say hello whenever I was home staying with my cousin. He was a wonderful friend to Jim. And I certainly enjoyed our scat games!
