Passed away December 25, 2025
Beloved daughter of the late Stephen and Anastasia (O'Brian) Sharrow. Also survived by many friends, former colleagues and students. Friends may visit Tuesday December 30th from 4-7PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME 3155 Orchard Park Rd. 716-675-9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday December 31st at 9:30AM at St. Christopher's Church 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda, NY 14150. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Christopher's Church.
Mary Ann was the Associate Dean at UB School of Nursing, a member of the Bishop Lay Advisory Council, very active at St. John the Evangelist Church, she received the St. Joseph the Worker Award and was a delegate to the White House Conference on Children
She studied nursing and received a bachelor degree from D'Youville College in 1957, a Master's degree from Teacher's College Columbia University in Maternal and Child Health and a PH.D in Higher Education Administration from the SUNY Buffalo.
Her professional career started at Children's Hospital where she was a staff nurse, head nurse and then Instructor. She then was appointed to the faculty of D'Youville College in the School of Nursing. Her career culminated at the University of Buffalo for 30 years. She taught child health nursing. After receiving her doctorate she was appointed as Associate Dean of Curriculum for the BS, MS and DNS programs in the School of Nursing. She was active in the Catholic Church and was a former member of the Bishop's Lay Advisory Council. She was a trustee, Eucharistic Minister, and reader at St. John the Evangelist parish in South Buffalo. She earned the St. Joseph the Worker award for her service and dedication to the Church. She was a delegate to the White House Conference on Children During the Nixon administration.
