Livingston, Daniel J.
1965 – 2025
Loving father of Julia and Samuel Livingston. Beloved former husband of Jennifer (Bauer) Livingston. Cherished son of the late Diane Livingston and grandson of the late Alma (Mimi) Kluge. Brother of DJ (Terrie), John (Laurie), the late Tom (Stacy), Mary Jo, Kevin (Trish) and Kathleen Tierney. Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews. The family will be present on Friday January 2, 2026 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park (716) 675-9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Charity Parish - Holy Family Worship site, 1901 South Park Ave., Buffalo, NY.
Born and raised in South Buffalo, Dan was the youngest of seven children. In his youth, he could nearly always be found shooting hoops at the basketball courts in Cazenovia Park. He graduated from St. John the Evangelist Grammar School. He was also a proud 1983 graduate of Bishop Timon High School. He was a skilled basketball player and former Captain of the Timon Tigers basketball team. In 1982, he led the Tigers to victory in the Monsignor Martin Catholic High School Athletic Association Manhattan College Cup. Following high school, he went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Buffalo State College.
In true Franciscan spirit, Dan spent the majority of his career serving and advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities and other mental health and cognitive challenges. His love for his work and the people that he served was inspiring to those who knew him. He was a champion for those who could not fight for themselves, always striving to provide the best possible support, advocacy, and care needed to maximize the potential of each individual.
Dan's greatest joy was being father to Sam and Julia. He loved teaching them to play basketball, coaching their soccer and basketball teams, and hiking with them in West Falls park. He took great pride in their successes.
Dan was known for his compassionate and generous spirit, his sense of humor, his creativity, and love of basketball and gardening. He was blessed with many lifelong friendships. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Western New York Independent Living (https://www.wnyil.org/) or Bishop Timon High School.
