of Buffalo, NY, passed peacefully in his home on Friday, January 30,2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Beloved husband of Anita (Quigley), dear father of James (Suzanne), Mark, and Margaret (Bill) Leahy, loving grand father of Michael, son of the late Michael and Margaret(Coughlin) Neenan, brother of the late Margaret, late John(late Margaret), late Joseph and late Nancy. Also survived by nieces and a nephew. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th from 4-7 pm at JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park (716)675-9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February7th at Our Lady of Charity, St. Ambrose Worship Site at11:30am. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo or St. Joseph Collegiate Institute. A lifelong South Buffalo resident, Jim was a graduate of the University of Buffalo and a proud veteran of the Korean War. He was happily married for 66 years and together they enjoyed golf, tennis and travel. Jim was a physical education teacher in the West Seneca school system where he coached tennis, football and track. He also was a coach for the St. Joe’s football and tennis teams. Jim was an ardent Notre Dame and college football fan. He was a well-respected teacher, coach, and friend to thousands of students and athletes.
