With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Clair A Owens who was reunited with his sons on February 20, 2026, at the age of 83. Clair was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and cherished brother, uncle, and friend. He brought joy and a calm presence to all who knew him. His dry sense of humor and quiet comments brought laughter to everyone around him. He was the beloved husband of Ellen (Steiner) Owens with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of love, laughter, hard work and adventures. Together, they built a life surrounded by family, and many treasured memories Clair was a Loving father of Trisha (Tim) Bean and the late Craig and Jeff Owens. Dear grandfather of Owen (Amanda), Grace and Quinn Bean. Brother of Judith (Wilbur) Ernst. Chosen family of Kurt Eschner. Dearest son of the late Claire Owens and Dorothy (Lou) Owens-Cocca. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who became family. Family was the most important thing to him. He devoted his life to ensure they were loved, supported, and provided for. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who became family. Clair loved the outdoors. He was a sportsman through and through as an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. This year he was so proud he golfed his age. He enjoyed spending summer days by the pool and nights In the hot tub. He prided himself on taking his grandchildren on many family vacations. Clair had a love for sports and was a dedicated life long Bills and Yankees fan. He was at every sporting event for his grandchildren cheering them on. Clair was a long time member of the United Transportation Union Local #1 and treasurer for many years. He was a conductor for CSX/Conrail Railroad for over 40 years. Friends may call Sunday March 1st from 1-5 at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC. 3155 Orchard Park Rd. 3155 Orchard Park Rd. 716-675-9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday March 2nd at 10AM at St. Philip the Apostle Church 950 Losson Rd. Cheektowaga, NY. Please assemble at church. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hamburg, NY.
