Obituary of Robert E. Daminski

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Edward “Bob” Daminski, 71, of Orchard Park, New York, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born to the late Eugene and Marian Daminski, Bob lived a life defined by devotion — to his faith, his family, his friends, and the outdoors he so dearly loved. Bob was the beloved husband of 50 years to Carla Daminski (Catanzaro), his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner. Together they built a beautiful family that was Bob’s greatest pride. He was a loving and proud father to Jill Mergenhagen (Mike) and Robert Daminski Jr. (Melissa), and a deeply devoted grandfather to Michael Mergenhagen, Rian Mergenhagen, Reese Mergenhagen, Jack Mergenhagen, Bobby Daminski III, and Billy Daminski. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and nothing brought him more joy than cheering them on, teaching them, and sharing stories that only Papa could tell. Bob, who loved his many dogs and pets, left behind his loving and faithful pup, Mac, who will miss him dearly. Bob is also survived by his loving siblings Janis Wieckowski (Jon) and Richard Daminski (Elaine). He was predeceased by his sister Mary Ann Nowicki (late Robert) and his brother Ronald Daminski (Donna Hicks). Family meant everything to Bob, and he cherished the bond he shared with each of them. A proud graduate of Bishop Timon High School and Trocaire College, Bob went on to build a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years combined with Consolidated Freightways and M&L Worldwide Logistics. His work ethic was unmatched, and he earned the respect of colleagues and friends throughout his long career. Outside of work, Bob truly came alive in the great outdoors. He was a legendary deer hunter, a fearless salmon slayer, and a fisherman who always seemed to know where the big ones were hiding. Whether in the woods at dawn or casting a line into the water, he found peace, purpose, and joy in nature. Many of his best stories — and there were plenty — began with an early morning hunting or a fishing trip that grew into a family memory. Bob, a lover of all sports, loved the Buffalo Bills with great passion. Above all else, Bob’s legacy is love. He was kind, strong, generous, and always there when someone needed him. His presence filled a room, his advice carried weight, and his laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew him. Family and friends may call Thursday March 5th from 4-8PM at Cannan Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday March 6th at 9:30AM at St. Martin of Tours Church. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that his stories, traditions, and love will live on through the family he built and cherished so deeply.
