Obituary of Eleanor "Elly" M. Smith

Passed away May 7, 2026. Beloved wife of the late James M. Smith. Dear mother of Michael (Marjorie) Smith, Joseph (Gail) Smith, Eileen (Richard) Tomaka, Trish (David “Ward”) Scarcello and Jeanne (Frank) Badaszewski. Loving grandmother of Brian, Christopher, Marty, Andrew, Julia, Anne, Emily, Chris, Maureen, Joshua, Jonathon, Jillian, Sam, Michael, David “D”, Jimmy and Kelsey “Dolly”. Loving great grandmother of 17. Daughter of the late Gene and Hilda Smith. Sister of the late Eugene, Arthur, Alfred Smith and Joan Brogan. Sister-in-law of the late Joan Finley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 3-7PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC. 3155 Orchard Park Rd. 716-675-9027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 12:00PM at Our Lady of Charity Parish – Holy Family Worship Site. Please assemble at church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Buffalo and/or Roswell Park. Mrs. Smith was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She was an inductee of the Buffalo Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She was the past president of the Msgr. Nash Women’s Guild and an active parishioner at Holy Family Church.
