Obituary of Frank P. Gregg

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank Gregg, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in the company of his wife and children in Buffalo, New York. This marked the end of his brave, albeit brief, battle with cancer. Frank was a kind, loving, hard-working Irishman, who deeply loved his family and friends. Frank’s unique life story began in County Kerry, Ireland, where as a child he attended St. Joseph’s Industrial School in Tralee. There, he made lifelong friends and decided to embark on a career as a tailor. After an apprenticeship in Thurles, County Tipperary, he moved to London, England, where he gained new professional skills and attended the London College of Fashion and the Tailor & Cutter Academy. He enjoyed London’s cultural scene including art, theater productions, and museums. While living in London, he learned to ride a bicycle for the first time and even encountered John Lennon on Savile Row. As a twenty-something, Frank returned to Ireland and launched his own company, Grange Fashions, in Dublin selling custom-tailored women’s jackets and capes fashioned from a selection of Donegal tweed fabrics.. It was during this time, through a chance hitchhiking encounter, that he had the good fortune of meeting the love of his life, a young American woman named Kathleen. Frank and Kathleen married and had their first child, Eoin, in 1978 while living in Dublin. Frank, Kathleen, and Eoin returned to the United States in the early 1980s and settled in Kathleen’s hometown of Buffalo, New York, where they had two more children, Siobhan (1984) and Brendan (1991). Frank’s professional life in Buffalo included a stint of over 25 years as a production manager at M. Wile & Company, a manufacturer of men’s suits, followed by seven years at MTS Sewing Inc., a producer of custom golf cart covers. He also regularly provided tailoring services to friends and family, making custom pieces for special occasions. During recent years, in addition to enjoying time with his grandchildren, Frank pursued a wide range of interests including singing, travel and studying the Irish language. Not one to fully retire, he continued working as a part-time associate at Valu Home Center locations in Orchard Park and Depew. Wherever he went he was known for his kindness, sense of humor and appreciation for a good song or story. Frank’s was truly a life well-lived and his memory will be cherished forever by his family and many friends in Western New York and throughout the world. GREGG, Frank P., from County Kerry, Ireland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on May 31, 2026.
