Mike is a part of my history. We grew up together as part of the Newman Place, St John the Evangelist, Cazenovia Park, Timon, South Buffalo kids of th1950's. I'm truly saddened to hear of his death. He will live on in my memories.

Just found out a really good friend of mine passed away!
One of the Best people I've had the pleasure of knowing.
Generous to a fault! Would help and did help out so many people! The biggest heart, I've ever seen. Prayers for his family and his friends. The world lost a good a person! You don't meet people with his integrity and kind ❤️ to many yes in life.. I feel the loss :(
He led a full life!
He was a Merchant marine, and a Insurance Investigator and an Educator! I know I learned a lot from him.
Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and forever dear.
He was always at Spot Coffee on Elmwood, sitting on the bench with his grey hair, giving out money or help to anyone that needed it that walked bye..
I count myself blessed for having known him

I did not know Mike personally, but professionally when he was teaching elementary school. He was an excellent teacher and was beloved by his young students. His passing is a great loss to his colleagues and friends as well as his family loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Gallagher was a teacher at McKinley High School when I started there as a Freshman in 1986. His presence around the building was always known and I always respected him. I am very sorry for your loss.

Mr. Gallagher was my teacher many years ago.
I just wanted to say what an amazing person he was. He had a heart of Gold and positively impacted so many peoples lives.
I am now 33 year years old but, I can tell you how lucky I was to have Mr. Gallagher as my teacher.
I will never forget the walks he would take us on and the popsicle he would buy from the gas station. I can tell you without a doubt he made a big difference in many kids lives.

I had the distinct privilege of working with John at McKinley High for several years. He was a colleague that I respected and trusted. The thing about John was that he was completely authentic and you always knew he was sincere about watching out for the students at that school. When you saw that blond hair flowing down the hall with his earring and his smile...you knew that he was bringing a moment of joy your way. His legacy is a simple, brilliant and beautiful one: he cared.

Mike was a fixture of our Elmwood Village neighborhood. He knew everyone, and everyone loved him. He would shovel the entire block before anyone woke up, trim the trees up and down the street, and he taught us a lot about taking care of old houses. He was so incredibly kind and generous, intelligent and funny, and dedicated to family. We loved him, my sons loved him, and he will be missed by our entire neighborhood community.

As a retired teacher myself I enjoyed being introduced as one of his “best” students. I further enjoyed that he was a teacher of my own daughter . Mr. G. What can I say. It was him and Mr.Leone we called them "Batman & Robin". They used be on us when I was a student at Kensington High School. He was one of the coolest people I had the pleasure of ever meeting. He wasn't just a disciplinarian, he was also a teacher of life. He always genuinely cared about us as people first. I really didn't understand that until I matured. Thanks for the memories you shall never be forgotten by the class of 85.
