Passed away July 6, 2023 Beloved wife of Thomas Stelmack, Dear mother of Amy (Scott) Roy and Michael (Lisa) Stelmack, Loving grandmother of Alecia Roy and Jake Stelmack, Sister of Carol (late M. Bernard) Cawley, Aunt of Christine and Jennifer. Born and raised in Dunkirk, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gladys and Henry Ebert. Helen Jean graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1961, and SUNY Fredonia in 1965. Not long after, she began her teaching career, teaching in the Ken-Ton School District, and then the West Seneca School district for about 15 years, as both a classroom teacher and in-home tutor. After raising her family, she followed her love of reading and worked for years at the West Seneca Library. After meeting at a wedding, she married Tom in 1966, and would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on Sunday. Her family was her pride and joy, and her heart overflowed with love for her two grandchildren. She showed incredible strength and courage in her battle with kidney cancer, and passed peacefully while surrounded by her family. Friends may call Monday from 4-8PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3155 Orchard Park Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. John Vianney Church, 2950 Southwestern Blvd, Orchard Park. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Buffalo.
