Obituary of Allan P. McCarty

Please share a memory of Allan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Allan P.. McCarty was born January 23, 1950 in Attica, NY to Jeanette (Downing) and Rex McCarty. After the passing of his mother, their family was joined by Marguerite (Fattey). He grew up alongside brothers John and Scott. Allan lived a wonderful 26 years alongside partner Sara Elliott. They shared a love of travel and their dachshund Sammy, among other things. Allan loved his two sons, Marshall (Christina) and Cameron (Rachael), and his grandchildren Vera and Waylon. Allan graduated as an Attorney from University of Buffalo Law School in 1974 and practiced law in the City of Buffalo until he retired in 2006. Those that knew Allan knew his true life's calling was horses and he thrived on his time as a standardbred horse trainer. Allan's best success on the racetrack came with the New York Sire Stakes Champion Hitwiththeladies, who earned over $435,000 during his 34-race career. Allan trained and raced primarily at the Hamburg Fairgrounds and Batavia Downs up until the week of his passing. Allan was known for his quick wit, amazing sense of humor and generosity.. His baby blue eyes would sparkle when telling a story and his laughter was contagious. He will truly be missed but his legacy will live on. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan's name to The H.O..R.S.E. Rescue and Sanctuary at Do Over Acres (Spencerport, NY) or your local humane society. Family and Friends are invited to a wake service at James W Cannan Funeral Home (3155 Orchard Park Road) to be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10-12 with a memorial service to follow at noon.
