Dear Pete:
Haven't seen you in a few years.... about 60!! Jack Lafferty kept me up to date with Sharon's cancer battle and we were both amazed at the fight in her!! We both went through what you're going through now and it's not easy-in fact it's the opposite & there isn't a word to describe it either.
All I can tell you is that somewhere down the line it will get a little bit better and a while after that you'll feel a bit better yet. Nothing can replace her or fill the enormous hole in your heart; but God will see you through to the spot where all you'll remember is the wonderful life you two enjoyed these many years. God has a spot for Sharon (and you), I'm sure of it and all the remembrance's here attest to that, Pete.
Didn't get a chance to talk with you at Sharon's beautiful service at Boomers-what a crowd! So I hope you don't mind if I signed the book and bailed out-I can become a bigger problem at trying to make people feel better at funeral services.
I hope, with all my heart, that you stay strong for the future and know, bit by bit, it WILL GET BETTER.

P.S. Who were all those old people at Sharon's Service anyway? I didn't recognize anyone. Sat with a guy next to Jack Lafferty that turned out to be Ang Lamarca-another BTHS guy 60 years out!! Sheesh!!

Dear Pete,
I believe I briefly met Sharon several years ago at a Geneseo reunion (Mike Wood's band was playing) and told her you were the best shortstop I ever played baseball with, except for all the other teams I played against! We had a good laugh. I don't know if I'll be able to make Sharon's service, so want you to know that you have my sincere sympathy for your loss. Please take care of yourself and hope to see you at a future Geneseo reunion.

Dear Pete: We are heartbroken for you. So many sweet memories of Sharon and you in our time in Stuart. The meals together and porch time, concerts, etc. She was so very brave. I never heard her complain, yet knowing she suffered such pain. Ric & I know you miss her terribly & life will never be the same without her. I’m glad you have your Stuart community that loved Sharon & you.

Sharon and Coach Herrmann were always the most generous hosts. After every Navy home football game, they would open up their house across from the stadium and welcome in the hordes of midshipmen.
Always grateful, always smiling, always welcoming.

I’ll always cherish our life and memories with Sharon; from the time my brother Peter brought Sharon home in college we knew she’d be a great addition to the Herrmann family. I have many awesome memories of all the games, parties and family events we shared. She fought a valiant fight against nasty cancer and will be greatly missed. Love you always. Janice
