Obituary of Gary W. Brewer

Gary W. Brewer, (70), passed away unexpectedly on October 12th, 2024, at his home in Blasdell, NY. Gary was born on August 1st, 1954 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda. He was raised with his sister, Joanne, by Mary and Hugh McIvor in South Buffalo. He attributed the values he held throughout his life to the love and guidance from Mary and Hugh. After Gary graduated from South Park High School in 1972, he took a gap year and went on to study Automotive Tech & Business at SUNY Morrisville. After graduating, he quickly realized that he wanted to work for himself. He successfully owned and managed his automotive repair shop in West Seneca for over 35 years. Gary’s love of music, specifically Jimmy Buffet, was felt and shared with all his friends and family. In his early adult years, he enjoyed spending time with those close to him in “Margaritaville”. He loved visiting Florida beaches, specifically Sanibel Island. He was a Ford Mustang enthusiast and was working on the restoration of his 1970 Boss 302. Gary is preceded in death by his loving parents, Hugh & Mary McIvor and his brothers Allen McIvor and Alan Brewer. He is survived by his wife: Janet Brewer, his children: James W. Brewer (Amy), and Jessica Brewer, his stepchildren: Amy Bridges, David Bridges (Janet), and Sarah Bridges, his grandchildren: Emma Bridges, Dylan Bridges, June & Violet Jurewicz, Natalie & Cameron Brewer, his siblings: Richard Brewer (Sally), Joanne Strell (Brewer) and Tina Reece (Brewer). He is also survived by all his loving nieces and nephews and his countless cousins. Please join Gary’s family in celebrating his life on Saturday, October 26th, from 9-11am, with a memorial service immediately following. The visitation and service will be held at James W. Cannan Funeral Home at 3155 Orchard Park Rd, Orchard Park, NY 14127.
