Obituary of William J. Dunford Jr.

DUNFORD, William J. Jr., passed away December 28, 2024, for over 50 years, Bill was the beloved husband of Denise (Mahoney) Dunford. Loving father of Brendan (Katelyn), Lauren (Keith) Kuwik, M.D., Ryan (Katie) and Matthew (Samantha) Dunford. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin, Aiden, Molly, William, Patrick, McKenna, Luke, Connor, Jonathon, Jamie, Leo, Evelyn, Wes and Griffin. Dearest brother of Maureen (late Michael) McCabe, Timothy (Kathleen), Patricia Shell and Terrance (Lorrie). Dear brother-in-law of Diane Mahoney, Brian (late Cami) Mahoney, Marguerite Mahoney and James F. Mahoney, Jr. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews, including Jason Shell, who lived with the family for many years. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 3-8:00 pm at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park (716) 675-9027. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Martin of Tours Church (please assemble at church). The interment will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. Bill was a proud graduate of Bishop Timon, Class of 1970. He became an outstanding police officer with the State University of New York at Buffalo Police Department for 17 years before earning his masters’ degree from Buffalo State College; this education led Bill to become the Chair of Criminal Justice at ECC City Campus. Bill also taught at Medaille, Bryant & Stratton and most recently returned to ECC South Campus. Bill was happiest when watching his grandchildren at any sporting or school event.
