87, of Orchard Park, NY died the afternoon of December 30, 2017 at Hospice Buffalo Como Park with his family by his side. Richard was born March 10, 1930 in Portland, NY at the family farmhouse. He was the youngest child of Joseph and Margaret Mucha. He was preceded in death by both parents as well as all eight of his siblings: Joseph, Bernice, Marie, John, Walter, Edward, Wanda, and Virginia.

He is survived by his one true love, his wife of 60 years, Susan. He is also survived by his son Timothy (Renee) Mucha of Coconut Creek, FL and daughter Tina (Keith) Brown of Springville, NY.  

Richard has four grandchildren Shawn (Katherine) Mucha of Colorado Springs, CO, Alexander (Suzannah) Hibit of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Amanda Mucha of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Kathryn (Ryan) Wood of Dunkirk, NY. He also has one great granddaughter Chloe.  

Richard is also survived by a niece Jonnette Edebohls and two great-nephews Christopher and Gregory Edebohls all of Longwood, FL.

Richard graduated at the age of 16 as Valedictorian of Brocton Central School in 1946 and went to college at Michigan State University majoring in Engineering. He was also a graduate of the the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead in 1951 and served as a missionary in Brazil for more than 10 years. Richard returned to the United States in 1961 with his wife Susan and son Timothy to raise and care for his family. He continued as a minister associated with the Dunkirk congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, using much of his time to teach others about the Bible. He and his wife Susan relocated to the Orchard Park area earlier this year.

Friends and relatives are welcome to call at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME INC. (Southtowns Chapel) 3155 Orchard Park, NY, Saturday January 6, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm by Paul Mattson, an Elder with the Orchard Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
