passed away in Wednesday, Jan 17th. He was 95 years old. Buddy was a proud member of "the greatest generation" serving in WWII in the Aleutian Island of Attu, Germany and France. Known to the thousands of school children as "Mr. Farrell", Bud worked at St. John the Evangelist School and Church for 36 years. He was a good story teller and a heck of a bowler but will be remembered best for his wonderful dancing. He was truly South Buffalo's very own Fred Astaire. Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen "Kay" Purtill and son Charles "Red" Farrell. He will be forever missed by his six daughters; Kathleen Stephens (Dennis), Mary Catherine Farrell (Scott Appleton), Joanne Coggins(late Christopher), Virginia Marczynski (Arthur), Loretta Weishaar (Robert) and Cynthia Farrell. Ann Farrell, his daughter in law, held a special place in his heart. Charles Joseph Farrell was born in Buffalo, NY in May of 1922 and he was the son of the late Charles Farrell and the late Mary McCarthy Farrell. His siblings, all deceased, were Mary "Sis" Mahaney, Dorothy "Dottie" Park and Joseph Farrell. Papa will always be remembered with love and fondness by his 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The Farrell family want to thank all the Purtill cousins and close friends who helped to look after Buddy throughout the last years especially Mary Ann Snyder, Margaret Smith, Greg Nyes, Bob and Jean Smith, thank you, thank you, thank you!
