Obituary of Monica Conrad

Conrad, Monica, daughter of the late John and Ella Dietrick, died at Mercy Hospital on April 14, 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Conrad and two bothers John (late Cornelia) Dietrick and Robert (late Janet) Dietrick. Beloved mother of Greg (Margaret) Conrad, Nancy (Peter) Deubell, Joan(Robert) Aquila, Michael (Kimberly) Conrad, Jack Conrad and the late Karen (Robert) Bolm, cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 3-8:00pm at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC. (Southtowns Chapel) 3155 Orchard Park Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30am at Our Lady of Charity Parish (St. Ambrose Worship site) 65 Ridgewood Road in South Buffalo (please assemble at church). After graduation from South Park High School, Monica was admitted to the first graduating class of Sister's Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She began her nursing career in Labor and Delivery at Mercy Hospital, where she assisted in the deliveries of a long line of nieces and nephews and children of friends. She continued her nursing career as a Nursing Instructor at the Sister's Hospital School of Nursing and Trocaire College. She was often called upon by her extended family for medical advice and assistance with hospital duties when needed to the point of bedside nursing at the hospital. After retirement she and her husband spent time between Florida and Buffalo. Monica's greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and the congregation of St. Ambrose. She enjoyed golfing, pinochle, and reading. She was a skilled cruciverbalist and an ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills and the NY Yankees, never missing a televised game.
