I couldn't believe what I was reading when I got my JHU Alumni magazine. I tried emailing and calling - hoped this was wrong, but I want you to know what a compassionate and intelligent nurse ANita was. I spoke wiht her often at Bayview where I work as the CNS for the BUrn center, and shared some wonderful times at the Military Surgeons Meetings 2004-2014. I knew Anita from the OHU at MFH. You knew when Anita was scheduled your day would be filled with some laughter some introspection and some great nursing. She lived teaching new nurses she loved learning herself and spread that love around.
Over the years when I would speak of my time at MFH Anita was always in some of my fondest memories. She was funny smart lovely and determined to go places so many of us would never even try to attain.
Rest in Peace and love Anita. Your journey continues!!

I am so very sorry to hear about the news. Anita will always be in my heart- sharing stories of the Navy Reserves is what I will remember the most- especially her love of service to our nation and to others. I have shared holidays, Baptisms of my kids and First Communion with Anita and she was always supportive, kind and fun to be around. I have always admired her hard work and dedication to the United States Navy and Marine Corps! I am very sorry I can not be at the funeral, but know she is in my thoughts. Thank you for your friendship!

Anita was a very good friend. She was full of life, full of love and always fun to be around. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. As a nurse, she compassionately cared for patients and their families in her calm and confident way. She was a constant student. Always inquiring with her sharp intellect and curiosity as she obtained her many advanced degrees. She found her second home in the military and as a Captain in the Naval Reserves, again found a way to compassionately serve those to whom she was assigned. Her heart belonged to her family. She shared many stories with me over the years and was so proud of her family "back home". They are an accomplished group and she truly loved them all. I will celebrate Anita's life today with a glass of cabernet as I reminisce with joy all of our happy times together. She made the world a better place for me! May God welcome Anita into His Kingdom.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Anita is as smart as she is beautiful. I learned so much from her when I began my nursing career at Millard Fillmore Hospital in the early 80's. We always knew she would have a slew of credentials after her name one day....and she did! Brilliant, hard working, and dedicated to nursing.
