My heart felt sorry goes out to each and everyone in the family over the loss of your Mom & Grand Mother. With Doris's passing another generation fades away - but not the memories and love she brought to us all. I am so glad I was able to see her one last time when I last visited the Ward. I will always remember the warmth and consideration she showed me that day.
I am 71 now, but still think of her, Cyril, and the kids (Mary, Johnny, Maggie, Geri, Trisha, June, Jimmy, Theresa, Anne & Bobbie). You all have left me with one of my fondest memories from when I was young. It was a thanksgiving and Mary was helping Doris cook the dinner. The duck hunters had been busy and filled the back porch with black ducks. I stood in the door way to the kitchen. Roasters full of ducks were in the oven and pots of food was on the stove. At the time Doris and Cyril were still having children. But, none of the kids - other than Mary - were allowed in the kitchen. We were all waiting for the feast to begin. The roaster brimming with whole ducks were served to the family and the kids chowed down. I never so anyone eat with more gusto than those kids around the table that day - each with a whole duck on their plates and a smile on their faces. Wonderful!
