I honestly had no idea Rita passed on. But I was thinking about her today and have obviously learned now of her passing.
I profiled Rita years ago in Business First, the weekly Buffalo business newspaper, when I wrote frequently for that publication. What a delight she was! And surely still is in heaven.

Dear Chuck, Jackie and Mike,
I just wanted to let you know what a special friend your Mom was to me. I started out as her handyman and we became fast friends. We shared a love of the outdoors , especially gardening, Roman Catholicism, ability to laugh at anything and a love of writing. While your Mom wrote many an article to the Buffalo News opinion column, I was sending articles to the sports section. She was a good friend who always had time for me. She was a invaluable supporter of mine when I was trying to find appropriate work during and after my mother died. She was also very kind to my brother Jack, who shared the same birthday with her. I will miss her very much but am positive we'll meet again someday. God Bless all of you during this difficult time. I know your Mom is looking down on us!

Jackie and Family
I will always remember Rita's kindness and good humor. She was a welcoming presence to me when I was at UB and we had many a delightful gab over Chinese food. I was speaking with her earlier in the fall, she was more than willing to help me again with my move back to Buffalo. I will miss this gentle soul.

Rita was my very Special cousin. She was there for me during my illness and I tried to help her through this difficult time in her life. She is finally at peace with the Lord and St. Therese. Every card I got from her had a Red Rose on it. R.I.P. dear Rita.

Jackie Ganim's mom Rita became a good friend to many of us in Gloucester, Ma. on her visits. She always brought joy, thoughtful comments and made people happy.. We loved her good heart and sense of humor and her deep love of her family was always evident. Rita was a proud, talented woman and we will always keep her in our thoughts for a life well lived.
