Passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021. Beloved husband to the love of his life for over 60 years, Joan (Kelly) Dempsey; dear father of Susan (Kurt Maute) Dempsey, Patrick (Christy) Dempsey and Kate (David) DempseyNewell; loving grandfather of Natalie and Nicholas Textores, Alex (Jesus) Almendarez, Colton and Daniel Dempsey, Tanner and Sebastian Newell; brother of Jack (late Sandy) Dempsey, Margaret Hardy, late Mary Catherine Dempsey and the late Joseph (late Roma) Dempsey; father-in-law of the late Tammie Dempsey. Friends and family may call on Monday from 4-7PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Nativity of Our Lord Church in Orchard Park (please assemble at church). The interment will follow the Mass at the Nativity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canisius College Physics Department, 2001 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14208. Dr. Dempsey was a Physics Professor at Canisius College for over 51 years. He and his wife Joan raised their three children in the house they both built by hand in Orchard Park.
