Obituary of Margaret M. Songin
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beloved wife and mother, Margaret Mary Songin, passed away peacefully
on July 17, 2022, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous
battle with cancer. To celebrate her life, love, and legacy, she leaves a
devoted husband of 39 years, Anthony, children John Songin and Kate
(Greg) Measer, granddaughter Madeline, sister Deborah Starr, and many
cherished family and friends. Margaret now meets her dear parents – the
late Alexander and Gloria (Karpowicz) Stypa – in Heaven.
Margaret was a living example of success, generosity, bravery and love.
She was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Hilbert College, and
Millard Fillmore School of Nursing. She led a successful career as a
registered nurse and medical sales representative. She also spent time as
an adjunct faculty member at Hilbert College. The love and care she
showed for her patients, clients, students and colleagues over the years
was unmatched. Margaret and Tony moved from Buffalo, New York to
Phoenix, Arizona in 2010. They retired in 2021 to the warm weather in
Bonita Springs, Florida.
Margaret loved the warm weather. Her favorite place to be was on the
family’s sailboat reading the Sunday paper. She could often be found
poolside, oceanside or in a store finding a great deal. She loved decorating her home and throwing parties. Her sense of humor was incomparable and her laugh was infectious. She made everyone around her feel warm, loved and included. Her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother.
Margaret’s legacy of kindness, generosity and love will remain in all of
those she loved and who loved her.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 401 Woodward Ave., in Buffalo, New York (please assemble at church).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to the
“Courage of Carly Fund” at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
(www.roswellpark.org/giving).
