My thoughts and prayers are with Wilbur's family.
When my autistic son James was little there were a several bus drivers that couldn't handle him and didn't want him on the bus.
Then God sent us Wilbur! They had an immediate bond, James loved Wilbur and Wilbur loved him. I no longer had to worry about James on the bus. I always tell people that working with autistic children can't be learned in college, it requires a special quality that comes from within. Wilbur had that quality and I immediately knew it. James was only on Wilbur's bus a couple of years, but he never forgot him and would ask everyone who knew James how he was doing. Wilbur was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. As much as I alway thanked him, I'm sure he didn't know what he truly did for us, and I will never forget him for that.
God bless you Wilbur!

To say my heart hurts and is breaking for all of you is an understatement. Wilbur was such a forthright and honest man, you couldn’t help but love him. I will always treasure my memories of him.
With a heavy heart and great sadness, I wish all of Wilbur’s family and friends comfort.
THE HEART REMEMBERS BEST WHAT IT LOVED THE MOST!

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Wilber. Had a drink with him and Beth at Charlie’s boat yard last August. Where do I start to tell the stories and characters he could portray. One of the funniest people I ever met. My condolences to his family. RIP my union brother. Wherever you are. Keep them laughing.

Beth & Family,
Our deepest sympathies on Bill’s passing. We knew how much he meant to all of you and more importantly, how much all of you meant to him, something he said often and with fervor.
Beyond the laughter and the fun that Wilbur generated, lay a sensitive, intelligent soul who could speak knowledgeably on many matters of the day. He was also a keen observer of human character. “Mr’s Fulton didn’t raise no dummy,” was a characteristic phrase of his when someone tried to run something by him.
All of his many friends have wonderful stories of the love and the laughter that he brought to us. But beyond that, there was a genuine admiration by all of us for his talents, his humor and most of all his genuine friendship.
I remember fondly Bill’s summoning a score of us to dig up your driveway with picks and shovels. It could well have been a scene from a gang of micks digging up the Erie Canal. We, like they, were well fueled by beer and laughter. No one else could command that type of friendship. We all responded instantly, knowing full well that Bill would be the first one there if any of us ever called for help.
Hopefully, the many memories, of Bill’s wit and humor, will help dampen the sorrow that you all feel. May you draw comfort from friends and family and the memories of a very special human being.
None of us will ever forget Wilbur. His memory and humor will be incorporated into the continuing flow of age-old stories that circulate through the gatherings of South Buffalo’s Clan na Gael.
May the Good Lord stand with and comfort you all during this difficult time.
