He was my older brother...In our younger years, he taught me about music, how to sing harmony, and about EmmyLou, when she was a teenager...I remember sitting in his room in Brooklyn with the record player with him all excited about this girl's voice. 70 years later she is still a star.
He taught me to play the guitar and in the summertime in Pennsylvania, we ran together in the heat to get ready for football practice.
He went off to college, to med school in Ireland, to Buffalo where he and Nancy raised their magnificent
family.
There was never a time when he didn't take care of me. I had my struggles and he would always tell me .."whatever you need, I'll be there... And he was.
He was such a decent man and it is reflected in is children. His memory and legacy will live on through them.
He was my older brother and I loved him.

Geof was an amazing Uncle. Always quick to comfort in times of need, always had jokes and was all around amazing. I will never forget the Thanksgiving weekends and the van that used to show up with all my cousins, the long drives up to Buffalo or the time that I found out his real name was George and not Geof and it took years to believe my cousins. You will forever be Uncle Geof. I love you and I miss you deeply.

I had the amazing fortune of meeting Dr. Loehfelm as I entered high school and went from a freshman to senior (and beyond) with many days, nights, and mornings at the Loehfelm house. Whether fiddling in his garden, jogging through Hamburg and returning with a sweaty smile, eating older than it should be Chinese, or responding to a late night call on his pager, Dr. Loehfelm was and will forever be, larger than life.
They way he looked lovingly on Mrs. Loehfelm, beamed with pride on the big/small accomplishments of Sarah, Dan, Mike, Tom and Tim, and how we showed patience and kindness to those who overstayed their welcome are just a glimpse of his character and the man he chose to be throughout his life.
There are memories of him passing quietly through a noisy room that still make me smile today. Could Dr. Loehfelm command a room or a crowd, no doubt. But his mark and memories are as strong as they were subtle.
Thanks for sharing Dr. Loehfelm with me (and all of us). I know I am a better person, husband, and father because of the moments spent with him. Rest in peace Dr. Loehfelm, keep watch over us, and advocate on our behalf to our Lord, who you served faithfully.

I have several memories of Dr. Loehfelm driving us around Hamburg in the family van back in the 80’s. They even included me on their family trip down to FL! He was always jolly! But the memory I will cherish was in 2004 when I had my first baby after a long, scary night. I was in recovery at Mercy Hospital for just a minute all alone, but feeling nervous. Sure enough, he was making rounds and saw me! He came right in to congratulate me and seeing him instantly put me at ease. Dr. Loehfelm touched so many lives.

Q: What was Dr. George's favorite recipe?
A: One of my favorite memories is of George, my brother in law, is coming home from a long day at the office and hospital , making us pina coladas using a powdered mix and grilling chicken or pork chops using a peach based jelly style marinade, “Saucy Susan”. I believe it was a product his family used back home growing up in Brooklyn.

Geof was the oldest of my three brothers, and a wonderful role model for us all. He was a generous and kind "big brother". He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He loved music, sports, and life in general. He filled our hearts with happiness, and then found a wonderful partner, Nancy. They expanded our family with five children, three daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren. Many of these share "Geof-traits" that will be passed on into the future and provide us with continued love and smiles. He will be missed, but will continue to be loved by many.

Mr. Loefhelm was a good man.
I remember him finishing up his evening jogs at Legion Field during the summer months to watch his sons and other children he knew play baseball.
He was VERY kind to my grandmother and various other women I knew who lived in Hamburg, Lake View, Eden, etc.
His charitable work with Meals On Wheels was admirable, as well as his dedication to his faith and the volunteer roles he filled at SS. Peter & Paul Church.
God bless the entire family...

I was an OR nurse at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and worked many years with Dr Loehfelm. He was always so friendly and caring to his patients. He frequently spoke of his family and shared so many stories of his children. There was never a dull moment in his house he would say. He was well respected by his peers community and his patients. South Buffalo and the Southtowns has lost a well loved Dr. It was a life well lived. My deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Loehfelm I am so grateful he was part of my work family.

Our condolences go to Geof's (as we knew him) wife Nancy, his children and his siblings as well as to his friends and colleagues and any others who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. We were cousins who all grew up in Brooklyn in simpler times and brought that borough's sensibilities with us as we scattered.
Geof was a kind hearted man who was always ready with an encouraging word or a wisecrack (or something in between), whatever was most needed in the moment. I know he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Loehfelm family. I worked in surgery as a nurse with Dr. Loehfelm for many years at Children’s Hospital on the GYN team. He always had a story to tell and talked lovingly about his family. We were all very saddened when he could no longer work. I hope you can find comfort in knowing he is at peace. He was an amazing man with such a big heart. He has touched the lives of so many people throughout his lifetime.

I knew George for 35 plus years as a fellow obstetrician. He loved his family and his patients very much, and always had a witty story to tell.
George delivered several generations of Buffalo kids, many of whom are wonderful stewards of our city and this will be his lasting legacy.
You will be missed by many!! God bless you and your family.
