My Uncle was a fine man, and as I grew up, a true hero to me. He always had that "Superman" persona in not just his size, Big Jon as he was known to many, but in the way he carried himself, the way he treated others, and especially in how he took care of his family, including his nieces and nephews.
Some of the happiest moments of my mother Carol's life, or my Aunt Diane's life, were when they were together with their brother Jon and Aunt Diane when they would come to visit. The three of them growing up together had gone through a lot, life was not always easy for the Knapp family, but they only became closer to each other as a result. It was a bond they had all their lives. And even though our hearts break now at the loss of our great Uncle, perhaps we can find solace in the fact that he is at peace, and he is once again with his sisters, probably eating a piece of Aunt Di's apple pie!
